Where to stay in Bath

As might be expected given Bath's long history of hospitality, there is a wide range of accommodation to be had, from the most luxurious hotels to backpackers hostels. There are also some excellent places to stay in the countryside around Bath.

Bath is well served at the luxury end of the market. The Royal Crescent Hotel, The Bath Priory Hotel, and the Bath Spa Hotel all offer the very best, but each have their own character.

Middle range hotels include the Hilton Hotel and the Francis Hotel, which offer car parking even though they are both very central. Incidentally, the Hilton is considered by most locals to be one of the ugliest buildings in Bath, but don't let that stop you staying there - it is very comfortable.

The guest house and bed and breakfast establishments are to be found all over Bath, but most are located in the suburbs, however almost all of them are within a reasonable walking distance of the centre. There are a few in the centre of the City, but parking can be problem. If you arrive by train, one that is very convenient is The Henry Guest House.

The Backpackers Hostel in Pierrepont Street is also quite handy for the station.

Some recommendations
	Abbey Hotel A very central hotel built in the 1740s. A few minutes walk from the train station. Overlooks Parade Gardens and Bog Island. Tour buses leave from just outside.
	Apsley House An upmarket bed and breakfast situated in an elegant Georgian House just over a mile to the west of Bath. Easy to find and very easy parking.
	Bath Backpackers A cheap and very convenient place to stay in Bath, 2 minutes walk from the Train Station.
	Francis Hotel Large elegant hotel situated pretty much in the middle of town, overlooking Queen Square.
	Georges Hotel Mid-range hotel convenient for the Train Station with a car park just across the road.
	Harringtons Hotel Tiny but elegant boutique hotel located in a small side street just off Queen Square.
	Hilton Hotel Consistantly judged the ugliest building in Bath, nonetheless it is a large and comfortable hotel in a very convenient location.
